The Lonesome Boatman

Played on the G-low whistle, this is absolutely Finbar Furey at his best! This song was for me the reason to buy my first low whistle. In the sheet music I have written down the basic notes of the melody line.

The intro is more or less the first ten measures of the song, but than played slowly. As soon as you can play the basic melody line by heart forget the sheet music and imagine yourself sitting at the Cliffs of Moher. Free your mind and play with the birds in the wind….

In the first PDF-file below you can find the sheet music of how it is played on the G-whistle as in the original recording. In the second PDF-file you can find the sheet music for D-tin whistle, so transposed a fifth up compared to Finbar Furey version.
