The Wind That Shakes The Barley

Sheet music for The wind that shakes the barley reel. There is also a movie with the name The wind that shakes the barley, as well as a ballad with the same name. Both, however, have no relation with the reel, but they are all related to Ireland. The film is about the Irish war of independence and the Irish civil war. The song is an Irish song written by Robert Dwyer Joyce in the 19th century, so ample before the war. The reel is of course an Irish tune and just nice to play without a special story.

It seems that the reel is especially popular amongst violin players, but it is also an excellent tune for tin whistle or actually any other instrument.

In the sheet music below you can find the notes and chords for the The wind that shakes the barley reel.

For the recording I took a nice version of the tune from the Dutch band The Low Land Paddies, with indeed a violin and tin whistle player.
